Event: Holy Mass March 19 Feast of St. Joseph
Update(3/16):
In my past invitations to our Mass on the Feast of St. Joseph, this coming Saturday, 10 am at Holy Cross Diocesan Center in La Crosse, I had forgotten to urge all of those coming to bring canned goods and other non-perishable foodstuffs to be donated to a local food pantry. This is a long and venerable custom on St. Joseph’s Day, so let’s be generous in helping the poor.
I also wanted to communicate that, unfortunately, Bishop Callahan will not be able to attend this Mass with us after all — an important matter came up that requires his presence and he extends his apologies. But our celebrant, Father Redfern, will be extremely pleased to preach a rousing sermon on his own name day!
This is a great feast for a great saint and even though it falls during Lent, since it is a Solemnity the faithful are free to dispense with their Lenten austerities to celebrate this day. We request that those planning to stay for the gathering after Mass please bring some special Italian antipasti/appetizers to share, along with a dessert.
We’re looking forward to seeing you, your family, and your friends on March 19!
