Coffee and fellowship in the Shrine crypt (downstairs) after the 9:00 a.m. Mass — all are welcome.

Hospitality takes place downstairs in the Shrine crypt on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Anyone who would like to help with food, set-up, or clean-up is warmly invited to contact us.

Men’s Forty Hours Devotion Silent Retreat

Sacred Heart Retreat Center, Burlington, Wisconsin

A silent retreat for men in the days before Lent, led by the canons of the Institute of Christ the King: Forty Hours before the Blessed Sacrament, conferences drawn from St. Francis de Sales, confession, and the Mass of Ash Wednesday to close.

The retreat follows the ancient Forty Hours Devotion. Retreatants arrive Saturday afternoon for Vespers, supper, and an introductory conference. On Sunday the Mass of Exposition is followed by a Eucharistic procession and the Litany of the Saints, and the Blessed Sacrament remains exposed on the high altar until Tuesday morning, with retreatants taking turns keeping watch day and night and regular opportunity for confession. Monday brings a Solemn Votive Mass for Peace with a sermon; Tuesday the Solemn Mass of Reposition, procession, and Solemn Benediction, with silence kept through the day. On Tuesday evening the silence is broken for dinner together before Lent, and the retreat closes Wednesday morning with the imposition of ashes and Solemn Mass for Ash Wednesday.

Room and all meals are included: basic suite $550, deluxe suite $725, premium suite $1,075. Cancellations more than a month out are refunded in full; within a month they become a transferable retreat credit.
